ok, so this entry is kind of a rant...read if you want..i dont care..just had to get it off my chest.
today at work was a discussion on politics and blah blah blah. you know i love politics very very much..and this election has really got me going. well, first and foremost I believe in the doctrine of separation of church and state...DO NOT mix religion and politics. its udderly ridiculous to do so.
anyway, this conversation at work made me realize just how ignorant the general american public is when it comes to real issues. you know I just love Barack Obama...he is what we have been needing for years. I just think people need to get the facts straight..sure his last name is different...and he is NOT a muslim...so what if he was? that does not make him evil or a terrorist....sure he is black...who gives a damn? it's 2008 people, I'd like to think we have made a little progress.
So theses people were bashing him and calling him the Anti-Christ...
and I voice my opinion and get these astonished looks. all i said was that I thought Mike Huckabee was a freak. Well gosh, why can't i voice my opinion? I mean it's the truth anyway...if he was president, well let's just say america would go back to the dark ages and my happy ass would be making a run for the canadian border.
Which leads me to another thing. People make such biggg deals over the issues that are the least important like gay marriage and whatnot. You know, if gay people want to get married..be my guest! how is it affecting any of our daily lives? it's not! People need to worry more about things like our failing economy rather than HATING just because someone might be a little bit different than them.
Which also leads me to another point...why i shy away from organized religion. All I've seen are people who discriminate, and are hippocritical. I mean look, you see all these evangelical people on tv all the time who say they hate gays, and then they are the ones that are caught in the bathrooms with other men!! Anyway, I thought we were taught to be loving and accepting of EVERYONE. That's what the early teachings of Christ were all about. And I think it's completely sad that a lot of people don't practice that love.
Anway, I think I've written a novel lol. so, you can call me a *gasp* liberal, communist, hippie, anarchist, the Anti-Christ...whatever.. I don't care, I'm entitled to my own opinion, you are entitled to yours. I just want what will never be attainable...peace on earth..and maybe to recesitate the Constitution...since it is completely dead.
